day 17 - a song that you hear often on the radio

There are a lot of songs I hear on the radio, but that's kind of the point of Top 40, right? It implies 40 different songs in heavy rotation. So, here's a song that could serve as an answer to today and yesterday in that I absolutely loathe it. And once upon a time, I did find it amusing. Unlike Baby Got Back, Tone Loc's Wild Thing has not found a nostalgic place in my heart and for some reason it's on heavy rotation with our local music only radio station. I know there have been days when I've heard it twice and I don't even listen to the radio that much.

day 16 - a song that you used to love but now hate

Hmmm...hate is such a strong word. I'm much more apt to hate a song and then grow to love it than the other way around. Nonetheless, I do have one. If I Were A Bell is arguably Sarah Brown's most entertaining song in Guys and Dolls and I used to love it. It's forever tarnished however by the fact that I played Sarah Brown when I was a senior in high school and when I look back on that experience I am so incredibly disappointed with my performance in the role. I got caught up in way too much...stuff...it was all just lame.

So, basically, I can't listen to this anymore.

I love the lyrics to this song so much I'm considering some of them for my next tattoo. Katey Sagal's cover of Ruby Tuesday happens to be my current favorite, but the message of the song is brilliant regardless of who does the singing.

day 14 - a song that no one would expect you to love

It's a well-established fact that I love music from every genre so I'm not sure if people would be surprised by anything I choose. That said, this one might be unexpected. I'm usually all about the lyrics and vocals, so instrumental isn't always my thing, but I played saxophone for a few years growing up and between the awesome video and the back and forth between Candy Dulfer and Dave Stewart, I've always loved "Lily Was Here".

day 13 - a song that is a guilty pleasure

I don't really feel guilty about loving Meat Loaf, but this is one of those songs like "My Heart Will Go On" and "I Will Always Love You" that it's hard to say you love with a straight face. Incidentally, I loved both of those songs, as well.
